HAIPAD to offer Lower Cost Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 Competitor

Toshiba Excite X10, Haipad android4.0 tablet, haipad i7 tablet, Haipad I7 thin tablet, super thin tablet

Toshiba intensified the tablet competition with Excite X10, one of the world’s thinnest tablets ever. But the Chinese Haipad I7 comes a close second. It has pushed the boundaries of  budget tablets by packing Android Ice Cream Sandwich in a strikingly thin tablet.

At 8.5mm of thickness, the Haipad I7 tablet is only 1mm thicker than Toshiba Excite X10, but at the same time it beats iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab in thickness. The ultra thin tablet has 7-inch HD screen with an excellent high-definition resolution of 1024×600 pixels.

The Haipad I7 tablet runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS smoothly thanks to its A10 processor based on Cortex A8 architecture and optional 500MB or 1GB of DDR3 memory. It also has dual cameras, HDMI output, and 2500mAh of battery.

In addition to the svelte figure and wonderful specs of the Haipad I7 tablet, the price is expected to be less than $200 AUD retail.

ASUS Announces Mid-Range Transformer Pad 300 Series

ASUS Announces Mid-Range Transformer Pad 300 Series

Hot on the heels of their previous announcement, Asus shares details on their newest line of Transformer tablets. The Transformer Pad 300 series was just announced, and it aims directly at the mid-range crowd. These new tabs pack the same Tegra 3 quad-core as their bigger brothers, the Prime and Infinity line, but they will likely be clocked a bit lower. Asus also figured out another way to cut costs without wrecking the performance of the device. It will still have a 22Whr battery and 1GB of RAM; however, instead of the aluminum casing it will be plastic.

Here’s a full breakdown of specs:

  • Dimensions: 263 x 180.8 x 9.9mm
  • Plastic chassis
  • 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 IPS display
  • Weight: 635g
  • NVIDIA Tegra 3 (4 x Cortex A9) processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB storage
  • 22Whr battery
  • Android 4.0

This is pretty good at that price point. There is no word on availability just yet, but when they do come to market, they will retail in the above colors: red, white & blue. Hmmm… am I sensing a marketing pattern here?

Notion Ink partners with Texas Instruments

21 January 2012, Bangalore

Notion Ink has partnered with Texas Instruments (TI) Incorporated for its next generation Adam II Tablets. Adam II will be using OMAP44XX processor along with other TI components like Wi-Link 7.0 and Phoenix Audio Power Amplifiers. Adam II will also leverage the power optimizations achieved using mature combination of TI’s integrated power-management IC.

Designed specifically for best Power Performance and Multi-tasking Experience, Adam II will be based on Google’s IceCream Sandwich Operating System.

The OMAP44XX platform’s smart multicore architecture pairs its main CPUs with several differentiated features including programmable accelerators, hardware composition engines and a dedicated ISP. Imagination Technologies’ super-fast PowerVR SGX5XX GPU and enhanced memory architecture add still more functionality while an OMAP-specific distributed composition architecture enables advanced image and video layering for crisp, HD visuals. These elements and more are the force behind the OMAP44XX processor’s ability to enable fast and fluid multitasking while maintaining ultra-low power consumption.

Adam II will release the world’s first Modular Based Software Architecture which will further expand the scope of application development and use nearly every single hardware feature in a “user customizable” application. Drag and drop features will enable easy application modification and Open Source Module will further expand the use cases and tablet deployment. Node operations like in Blender, and “Application Authoring Tools” are primarily aimed at non-programmers for composing applications, games and use-case flows in a drag-and-drop fashion, utilizing visual editors and behavior-based logic system.

This System will help consumers, professionals and students become productive as they will be able to use the tablet as alogic analyzer, medical imaging device, signal acquisition and processing, 3D modeling and multi-media.

For more information about TI OMAP processors, visit www.ti.com and https://notionink.wordpress.com for Adam II

Haipad Releases M7s Slim and Lighter version of M7

Haipad recently released the M7s a slim version of the ever so popular M7. Previous M7 models include M7, M7+, M7++ aka m7-m .
Some eye candy below of the new device below which sports a waistline of only 10mm, weight of just 360grams, and which is rumoured to get Android 4.0 / ICS soon.
Development of Android 4.0 firmware for M7′s is already underway including several from the user community.
The first release of M7s comes in on 4GB and although we don’t think nand memory is that important, our customers disagree so we won’t be stocking this device until it’s available in higher internal nand sizes. Other differences between M7 and M7s is that the M7s has replaced internal sdcard/nand with real Nand chip. I guess this is the reason it’s not available in 16GB or 8GB yet as it would require the chips to be changed – it’s no longer a case of just replacing the internal sdcard.
